MONROE - Begin Saint Patrick's Day celebrating with friends at the Monroe Public Library. Families with children ages three and up are invited to stop in from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, for St. Pat's Day fun, a program filled with crafts and stories. Participants will have the opportunity to make a variety of crafts and hear leprechaun stories with Kris Ault, youth services librarian, at noon and 1 p.m.

The VolunTeen Leprechauns will be on hand to assist young crafters as they create Paddy Potato Puppets, Pot O'Gold necklaces, Shamrock Mouse bookmarks, Fairy wands, Rainbow windsocks, and Top O' the Morn leprechaun hats.

Library patrons of all ages are invited to wear their Leprechaun hats and wave Fairy Wands, while marching in the St. Pat's Day parade at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, March 17. Decorated wagons and strollers are welcome. Materials to make Shamrock Crowns will be available in the children's room of the library from 3 to 5 p.m. on March 17 prior to the parade.

The St. Pat's Day fun program and the pre-parade crafts are free and no registration is required.
