St. Patrick's Day: Run, walk or crawl

MONROE - St. Patrick's Day events will include the Green County Family YMCA Run Before You Crawl 5k run/walk on Saturday, March 8. Kids run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the adult 5k run/walk begins at 9 a.m. For more information, visit greencountyymcacelticrun.com.

The seventh annual Celtic Pub Crawl will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at Friendly Inn. Check-in is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Friendly Inn, 1335 17th St. Pre-registration can be done at any of the 10 participating pubs. The first 300 to donate to the Green County Food and Pet Pantry at check-in will receive a free gift. The Kissers will be performing from 2 to 6 p.m. at Turner Hall. Admission is free to registered Celtic Pub Crawl participants and $5 cover charge for the public. Safe Ride will again be provided by Green County EMS and the Tavern League.

Eoin Breadon donated a blown glass pint for a silent auction with proceeds to be donated to Safe Ride. Visit Flanagan Shenanigans Celtic Pub Crawl Facebook page, www.facebook.com/groups/268489769308, to bid on the pint. The winner will be announced online on Sunday, March 9.

The Monroe Lions Club is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a trip to Ireland. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Lion members, participating Celtic Crawl pubs, Heartland Graphics and at the Kisser's performance. The winner will be announced on Monday, March 17.

The annual Monroe Main Street St. Patrick's Day Parade around the Square will be held at 5:17 p.m. Monday, March 17. Parade royalty includes Queen of the Green Deb Upton, Princess Meghan Schramer and Grand Marshall Patrick Doyle.
