JUDA - The westbound lane of Wisconsin 11 west of County S was closed for about three hours Friday after liquid waste was reported in the vicinity of the Protient plant and Grande Cheese, located at N2689 County S just north of Juda.
The westbound lane was closed at about 9:35 a.m. and was reopened at about 12:30 p.m.
According to the Green County Sheriff's Department, liquid waste spilled out of a ruptured pipe at the location. The department was notified of the leak at about 8:45 a.m.
The material that spilled was not toxic and was not hazardous, Chief Deputy Jeff Skatrud said in a news release.
The Juda Fire Department and the Green County Highway Department assisted at the scene to keep the waste product from running into a nearby creek. Green County Emergency Management and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources also assisted at the scene.
