MONROE - The Green County Humane Society and Everyone Needs a Home will host a free Spay/Neuter Day on Thursday, June 7 at Monroe Auto Sales, 101 W. 8th St.

Monroe Auto Sales is donating the use of its facility for the free Spay/Neuter Day. Cats must be dropped off in the morning and Dane County Humane Society veterinary staff will perform the surgeries. After a short recovery period, cats will be released to their owners after 5 p.m.

Residents of both Green and Lafayette counties are eligible. Spots for the free surgery day are expected to fill up fast. There is a limit of two cats per household. Cats must be in good health and free of respiratory illness. Cats must be tame enough to be handled and must be transported in a pet carrier. Cats living in outdoor homes are eligible.

Registration begins on Thursday, May 24. To register, call (608) 543-3637 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

So far, GCHS and ENAH have teamed together to spay/neuter 300 cats at 10 previous events. The event on June 7 is the second of four to be held in 2012, and is funded in part by the United Way.
