MONROE - Chicago singer, songwriter, and musician Ernie Hendrickson, will return home to Wisconsin when he performs with his band at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 9, on the Monroe Arts Center (MAC) stage, Monroe. The performance will be the second of three performances scheduled as part of the MAC Summer Concert Series.

Born in Cuba City, Hendrickson grew up on Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Cat Stevens, and Jerry Garcia. At the age of 16, he was forming bands searching for his own sound. While attending Illinois State University, Bloomington, Ill., he became the leader of The Seed Band: a group that would release three independent records, and found a cult following in the university subculture and surrounding areas.

In 2007, he self-produced and released a solo record, "Down the Road." Hendrickson's newest record, "Walking with Angels." Radio promotion has taken the sophomore album's success to a higher level, having spent more than 25 weeks in the Top 20 on Roots Music Report's Folk charts and in regular rotation at nearly 100 different stations across the country.

Hendrickson has been busy touring and promoting his music, doing so with a recent appearance on Wisconsin Public Television's 30-Minute Music Hour. He was selected to be a part of an official showcase at this year's National Folk Alliance Conference held in Memphis, and he has also embarked on a concert tour including stops in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

At the Monroe Arts Center performance, Hendrickson will be joined on stage by musicians Brian Wilkie (pedal steel/guitar), Darren Garvey (drummer), and Jon Penner (bass).

Reserved individual seat tickets for the show are $25 and $20 and may be purchased by calling the MAC at (608) 325-5700 or in person at the box office located at 1315 11th St., Monroe.

Concert-goers are invited to relax and picnic on the MAC grounds prior to the show. Gourmet box lunches created by Café Claudeen may be ordered by calling the MAC and may be picked up at 6 p.m. the night of the performance.

The event has been underwritten by Corporate Underwriter Colony Brands, Inc., and Media Underwriters Monroe Publishing, LLC, and Big Radio. Additional underwriting for the presentation has been provided by Paul and Sue Barrett; Craig Carter D.D.S. and Janelle Eckdhal D.D.S.; Monroe Clinic; and Tom and Sue Nelson.
