DARLINGTON - The Lafayette County Land Conservation Department will be accepting sign-ups for cost-sharing on conservation practices from Jan. 19 through Feb. 13. Office hours at the USDA Service Center, 1900 Ervin Johnson Drive, are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Pending funding availability, the following conservation practices may be cost-shared at 70 percent: Terraces, Diversions, Spring Development, Wetland Enhancement, Nutrient Management, Manure Storage Structure, Grassed Waterway, Streambank Stabilization, Grade Stabilization Structure, Federal/Municipal Partnering (a maximum of $500 cost-share, includes Dry Hydrants), and Contour Stripcropping at $15 per acre. Other cost-shared practices are Well Abandonment (a maximum of $750 cost-share, two wells per landowner, per year) and Manure Storage Abandonment.
