MONROE - Main Street Monroe, Inc. and Wal-Mart collaborated to create a Historic Downtown Square sign located inside Walmart.
The sign contains three parts: a color-coded segment identifying the downtown retailers, a map of how to reach the downtown and an events segment. The Main Street Monroe design committee provided input on the internal segments and approved the overall project.
Rob Wheat, a Main Street Monroe design committee member and architect with Senektekts, Monroe, designed and donated his time for the 12-foot by 6 1/2-foot sign.
Thor Thompson of Bruni-Miller Construction, Inc. constructed the sign, installed it inside of Walmart and gave a $200 donation to Main Street Monroe.
