DARLINGTON - A 59-year-old Shullsburg man was sentenced to probation this week for convictions of having a meth lab in his home.

Robert F. Gundry pleaded guilty in April in Lafayette County Circuit Court to Class H felony charges of possessing methamphetamine precursors and waste. A charge of maintaining a drug-trafficking place was dismissed.

A Green County judge James Beer ordered on Wednesday, July 24 that Gundry serve three years of probation and work 50 hours of community service.

Gundry must also pay the Shullsburg Fire District $1,726 in restitution for the cleanup of the meth lab's hazardous waste.

Conditions of his probation include no alcohol and no consumption of controlled substances or nonprescribed medications.

Gundry was living in an apartment at 221 W. Water St. in Shullsburg when drug agents raided it in late January - the culmination of an investigation into drug activity in the home.

Investigators say Gundry allowed a Platteville woman, 26-year-old Latasha Lynn Groom, to cook meth there.

Groom has remained in jail on a $20,000 cash bond since February on charges of manufacturing and dealing meth and has a sentencing hearing scheduled in her case Aug. 29.
