MONROE - As work begins on a new northwest addition on Monroe Clinic's main campus, plans are in place to help patients and visitors navigate parking and clinic entrance changes.

Special signs will help patients and visitors around the campus, and extra staff is on hand, ready to help.

"Construction signs are marked at the top with the words 'Northwest Addition,' and offer information about where to park and which entrances are open," said Liz Carroll, Monroe Clinic director of marketing and community relations.

The pediatrics/family practice (north) entrance and parking, which have been closed since late September, are re-opened.

On Dec, 7, the main clinic entrance (west) will close for the duration of the construction project, through early 2012.

A new east entrance, located off 22nd Avenue, will open the same day to accommodate clinic visitors and patients. The new east entrance will provide access to the clinic lobby.

Valet parking and shuttle services for the clinic building also will relocate to the new east entrance on Dec. 7.

"We understand these changes may be confusing for some of our patients, and we're ready to assist anyone coming onto the campus who would like a little extra help finding their way," said Cindy Werkheiser, director of service and process improvement.

Staff wearing orange vests will be outside over the next several weeks to direct patients to parking or to valet and shuttle services.

Monroe Clinic's shuttle service will continue to operate from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Free valet parking service is available from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the hospital's main entrance and from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the clinic's main entrance, by checking in with the receptionist.

Patients and visitors can view maps of current parking information and open entrances online by going to www.monroeclinic.org and clicking on the "expansion" button on the bottom of the Web site's main page.
