MONROE - A Green County Jail inmate is expected to be charged Monday with hitting two other prisoners, one of them Casey Shelton - the Brodhead man convicted in January of killing his infant son.

The incident, which occurred Tuesday, July 21, at the jail, has been referred to the Green County District Attorney's office. Charges will be filed Monday. Once that happens, the alleged offenders name will be public record and released to the press.

According to a news release issued Friday by Green County Sheriff Randy Roderick, the fight took place in a cell block shared by five adult males. Roderick said information from inmates who were willing to talk indicated that one inmate hit two others.

Shelton, 33, Brodhead, is awaiting sentencing Aug. 24 in connection to the death of his 2-month-old son, Chris-topher, on Feb. 28, 2007, at a Decatur township residence.

Shelton and the other injured inmate were taking to Monroe Clinic for injuries.

Roderick said jail rules were violated and an investigation will determine which inmates violated jail rules and they will be disciplined.
