BROWNTOWN - A convicted sex offender will be released into the Browntown area on or about Aug. 20, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
Joseph E. Karalis, 44, will live at W8352 Pilz Road. He was convicted in February 1998 of second-degree sexual assault of a child for repeatedly sexually assaulting a female under the age of 14.
Karalis is 6 feet, 1 inches tall and weighs 276 pounds. He is white, bald and has blue eyes.
According to the sheriff's department, Karalis will be closely supervised by Wisconsin Probation and Parole agents. He will be subject to frequent, unannounced visits by agents and will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device.
He will only be allowed to leave his residence in the company of an adult relative.
The sheriff's department said Karalis will be taken into custody if he violates any of the rules or conditions of his release.
The department released the information to inform the public, not to cause fear, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
If anyone sees Karalis violate his release terms, they should contact the Green County Sheriff's Department at (608) 328-9400, or any other law enforcement agency.
The sheriff's department also warns people that they cannot threaten, harass or intimidate any registered sex offenders.
