DARLINGTON - A convicted sexual offender will be released today, March 4 from the Lafayette County Jail.
Carl J. Knapp, 61, was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a girl and incest with a child in June of 2005. He served 10 years in the Stanley Correctional Institution and faces 10 years of supervision. He will be released with conditions that he have no non-chaperoned contact with children and that he not possess intoxicants or enter bars or liquor stores.
Knapp is currently registered as a sex offender but an address was not provided. A Darlington Police Department release stated "there is no cause to believe this subject poses a threat to the neighborhood."
