MONROE - The city of Monroe water and wastewater departments are continuing to perform routine maintenance on the collection and distribution system in 2018. The following will be approximate areas and dates that the crews will be in each area doing sewer cleaning and televising.
June 1-July 1: South of 13th Street from 20th Avenue to 22nd Avenue
July 1-Aug. 1: 5th Street south to 8th Street from 20th Avenue to 22nd Avenue
Aug. 1-Sept. 1: 8th Street south to 13th Street from 20th Avenue to 22nd Avenue
Hydrant flushing and valve turning will be ongoing from April 30 through Oct. 31.
Customers are reminded that some discoloration may occur in their water and that the water is safe and is not harmful to one's health. The discoloration is caused by encrusted minerals being flushed from the walls of the mains. The best way to deal with this is to turn on the cold tap and let the water run until it becomes clear. For more information, contact the Monroe Utilities office at 329-2483 Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
