MONROE - Mark your calendars: The first day of school for the 2008-2009 will be Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The Monroe School Board approved the calendar Monday.
New this year is an early release day scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28. Students will be off school Wednesday, Oct. 29 through Friday, Oct. 31. Oct. 28 and 29 are designated for parent-teacher conferences. The full day off Oct. 29 is dependent on approval from the state Department of Public Instruction.
School will be off Nov. 26-28, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Christmas break is slated for Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Jan. 2, next school year and spring break will be from Monday, March 16, to Friday, March 20. Thursday, Feb. 26 is an early-release day.
There will be no school Friday, April 10, which is Good Friday, nor Monday, May 25, Memorial Day. The last day of school is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9.
