BROWNTOWN - One man was injured Wednesday morning when a semitrailer collided with a Lafayette County Highway Department snow plow.

Chad A. Maske, 33, Milton, had to be extricated from the cab of the semi after he failed to yield the right of way and slammed into the back of the snow plow, driven by David A. White, 41, Darlington.

The accident happened around 11:45 a.m. on Wisconsin 11 near the Green County/Lafayette County line.

Maske was transported by ambulance to Monroe Clinic for injuries sustained in the crash. His condition was not known as of press time Thursday.

Lafayette County Sheriff Scott Pedley said Wis. 11 was shut down for four hours while crews towed the semi and cleared debris strewn across both lanes of traffic.

According to a news release, Maske was westbound in his semi, owned by Millar Grain Services Inc. in Edgerton, Wis., when he struck the driver's side rear corner of the plow truck, which was plowing the emergency lane to the right of the highway. The collision caused the semi and tanker trailer to cross the roadway and enter the south ditch.

White was not injured in the crash, but was taken to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington to be checked out at the request of the county, Pedley said.

Maske was cited for inattentive driving and a seatbelt violation.

The snow plow was driven from the scene.

The South Wayne and Browntown fire departments, South Wayne First Response, Monroe EMS, Wisconsin State Patrol and the South Wayne Police Department assisted at the scene.
