BRODHEAD - All three Brodhead schools were in lockdown for about an hour Thursday afternoon.
According to District Administrator Chuck Deery, the district received a call from the Brodhead Police Department that there was a threat of an adult male from Beloit coming to Brodhead High School "to cause trouble" with a student.
"It was a boyfriend of a former student and the guy from Beloit didn't take too kindly to something the boyfriend said," Deery said.
Deery said the man was coming from Beloit "potentially with a weapon," so around 1 p.m. he ordered a lockdown of the elementary, middle and high schools as a precaution. Deery said police officers were on site to monitor the situation.
The man was apprehended "nowhere near here," Deery said. At about 2 p.m., Deery ended the lockdown.
No further information about the suspect or the arrest was available.
