MONROE - The clock is winding down for candidates running for area municipal and school elections across the region on the April 5 ballot.
In New Glarus, president Jim Salter is unopposed. There are four people running for three seats as village trustee. Incumbents seeking re-election are: Peggy A. Kruse, Henry Janish and Roger Truttmann. Newcomer Sue Leverich is also seeking a spot.
Terms are for two years.
For the New Glarus school board, there are three people running for three seats. Jonathan M. Sheridan and Duane Schober - both newcomers - are in the race, as is Paul Eichelkraut, an incumbent.
In Monticello, four people are running for three village trustee seats. Incumbents William Loveland and Laverne Crooks are being challenged by Tom Ovadal and Robert Goehring. President Steve Graber is running unopposed. The terms are for two years.
For the Monticello school board, incumbents Tim Bruns and Trina Zanow are unopposed in their re-election bid. There are two seats available; each carries a three-year term.
In Brodhead, Teresa Withee will run against the incumbent Rick Genthe for ward one. John Bernstein is unopposed in ward two, as well as Hubert Vickers for ward three.
The alderman position is a two-year term.
The Juda School Board has three people are running for two seats. Incumbents Deena Adkins and Patrick Daniels are being opposed by Jenny Brooks. The term is for three-years.
In Albany, three seats are open for the two-year term village trustee. Incumbents Peggy Boeck, Kim Blumer and Wayne Stemple are running unopposed. President Larry Hanson is running for re-election.
Albany School Board has four people running for three spots. Incumbents Wayne Mueller, Rebecca Mather and Jason Linger are being challenged by Karen Henry, a newcomer.
For the Pecatonica School Board, incumbents Patty McGowan, Blanchardville, and Ron Lindeer, Blanchardville are running for the two seats that are open. They are running unopposed.
In Arygle, three seats are available for the two-year term of village trustee. Incumbents Neale Pollackson, Victor Weibel and Brad Ostby are running unopposed.
The Argyle School District has two seats open for a three-year term.
Julie Ostby and Peter Herman, both newcomers, are running against incumbent Keith Richards.

Nicholas J. Zuberbuhler, Duane M. Jorgenson, Larry A. Hakes and Tony Ruega, all newcomers, run against incumbent Judy Huntington for the three-year term.
