MONROE - Green County Expedition Scavenger Hunt and Fall Festival fundraiser is a fun filled family event beginning at noon on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Twining Park. Activities include pumpkin bowling, hug rugs, bean bag toss, face painting, bouncy house, three-legged race, kid's scavenger hunt in the park, pumpkin carving contest for youth and adults with music and karaoke provided by Black Tie Karaoke. Additionally, the Clothesline Project will be on display throughout the day. A $1 per person or $5 per family donation is suggested.
Nineteen teams will be vying for the large and small team scavenger hunt prize. Teams are from: Small World Day Care, Green County Child Support Unit, Green County Human Services, E&N Hughes Company Inc, Monroe High School National Honors Society, The Monroe Times, Wisconsin Community Bank, The Noon Optimist Club, two family teams and five teams from Swiss Colony (a corporate sponsor for the event).
Autumn foods (grilled cheese, pork chop sandwiches, walking tacos, pumpkin bars, apple bars, caramel apples, coffee and hot chocolate) will be available from the Monroe FFA and Monroe Noon Optimists. For additional information about the event call (608) 325-6489.
The closing ceremony with MC, David Deininger, begins at 5:45 p.m. at the bandshell. The program includes entertainment by the Juda Community Singers, announcement of the Scavenger Hunt and pumpkin carving contest winners, and Jeffrey Kohl, assistant district attorney. A domestic abuse survivor will tell her moving story, followed by a special musical selection by soloist Ann Kloepping. The ceremony will come to an end with a luminaria ceremony paying tribute to the domestic violence victims and survivors of Green County.
All proceeds benefit Green Haven Family Advocates, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the individuals and families of Green County affected by abuse and violence through prevention education, advocacy, support and services for adults and children.
