MONROE - A Safety Defense and Safety Awareness class will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Behring Senior Center. The class will be instructed by Timm Burns.
The class will teach participants to stay safe by learning self defense techniques with an emphasis on safety awareness. Participants will learn how to think about self defense situations and to defend themselves through the use of basic, practical self-defense and karate-type techniques. The cost for the class is $20 for residents and $30 for non-residents.
To register, visit the Monroe Parks and Recreation office at City Hall, 1110 18th Ave. There is a need of a minimum of six participants to hold the class.
