NEW GLARUS - The North American Swiss Singing Alliance triennial Saengerfest is coming to New Glarus June 18-21.
Saengerfest is a celebration of singing and yodeling that is intended to provide an occasion for Swiss immigrants, Swiss living abroad, Swiss descendants and admirers of Swiss culture to come together and celebrate a shared heritage and mutual passion through music, food, fun and friends. The event is hosted by Männerchor New Glarus with the assistance of Jodlerklub New Glarus and many others from New Glarus and Green County.
NASSA is an international Swiss singing organization comprised of 15 Swiss choral groups from the Upper Midwest and Canada, representing hundreds of singers in mixed, men's, women's and yodel choirs. As a part of NASSA membership, these choirs come together every three years to celebrate a common passion for music and friendly competition, and culminating in a Grand Concert.
Along with NASSA member choirs attending with singers and patrons, dignitaries from the Swiss government, Swiss musical ensembles and several Swiss tour groups will travel to New Glarus for the event.
