MONROE - Ronald McDonald is coming to the Monroe McDonald's at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, to accept the pop tab collection gathered by the Junior Optimist Club members. The last time the Junior Optimists donated a pop tab collection, they broke the standing record for bags of pop tabs collected.
The pop tabs are the "play ship" fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House for sick children.
The Junior Optimist Club, a youth club at Monroe Middle School sponsored by the Monroe Noon Optimist Club, adopted the Madison Ronald McDonald House as one of their service projects, donating magazines and collecting pop tabs. Their advisers are Ramona Jenson, an eighth-grade teacher the Monroe Middle School, Gabrielle Breadon and Veronica Bruce.
