MONROE - Rock and roll fans will get some serious satisfaction when Shattered, a Rolling Stones tribute band, makes its debut in Monroe for the next Concert on the Square at 6:30 p.m. July 10. The performance marks the fifth of eight big shows, all sponsored by Colony Brands.
Shattered, a five-piece band from Milwaukee, appeared throughout the Midwest, including the Classic Rock Stage at Summerfest in 2014. In keeping with the musical theme of the evening, concertgoers are asked to wear their favorite rock 'n' roll garb or retro-rock T-shirts.
Also making an appearance at the show will be local award-winning cheese producer Emmi Roth USA as part of the 2015 Roth Food Truck tour. The Roth food truck, essentially a self-contained gourmet kitchen, will feature small bites from its newest cheese line - Roth Ultimates Shredded Cheese Blends. Concertgoers will be invited to enjoy complimentary samples of Sweet Fig Flatbread Brioche and Mediterranean Grilled Cheese.
The July 10 show will also feature special intermission entertainment by the Handphibians, a Brazilian-style percussion group. Intermission entertainment is courtesy of John and Katie Baumann Inspiration Project.
The featured non-profit group for the evening is the Monsignor Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund, established to promote causes related to youth and those with disabilities. Director Ellen Marti will be available to answer questions about the initiatives of the group - including the soon-to-be-added Children's Gallery at Monroe Arts Center to be named in Monsignor Campion's honor.
To register for the "Best Seat in the House" contest, visit the Heartland Graphics.
Monroe Park and Recreation Department is offering a free drop-in for kids from 6 to 9 p.m. at the concert. Advance registration is required. To register, call 608-329-2460.
Concerts on the Square means dinner and a show. Food stands onsite include Buggy Works, Pancho and Lefty's, Rainbow Confection, Tia's Mexican Grill, Suisse Haus, the Special Olympics Popcorn Stand with popcorn courtesy of Bartel's Tap, and Girl Scout cookies.
In case of rain, the entire event moves to SLICE. For the latest updates follow "Downtown Monroe Events and News" at www.facebook.com/pages/Downtown-Monroe-Events-and-News/100650823333469?fref=ts or visit mainstreetmonroe.org.
