NEW GLARUS - Same-day registration is available for the eighth annual Pedal for Paws bicycle event Saturday to benefit the Green County Humane Society.
Check-in and registration will be open from 7 to 10 a.m. at the New Glarus Railroad Depot, 418 Railroad St.
The registration fee is $35 for an individual and $60 for families. The fee includes a T-shirt (two T-shirts are included in a family registration.) Youths 15 and older must register as individuals. Additional T-shirts will be available for $8.
Pedal for Paws includes four routes, so there's one appropriate for every level of experience. There are two challenging routes of 30 miles each that include many hills; one moderate 15-mile route that has a few hills; and one flat, 12-mile route along the Sugar River Trail, which is a crushed limestone trail.
Two of the routes will take bicyclists past Monticello, which will be hosting its annual Homecoming celebration that day.
There will be SAG support along the routes until 2 p.m. There also will be food and beverages at rest stops along the routes, and at the end of the ride.
Toffler's, 200 5th Ave, New Glarus, also will be hosting an After Ride Party beginning at noon. The Unadoptables Band will perform in the afternoon and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to GCHS.
Helmets are required for the event. The event will be held rain or shine.
