Reggae coming to Square

MONROE - Natty Nation will be the fourth band to perform during this summer's free Concert on the Square series. The band will perform from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 12 on the west side of the Square.

The concerts are sponsored by Main Street Monroe, Inc. and underwritten by Colony Brands, Inc. Those attending should bring their own lawn chairs.

Natty Nation is a reggae group from Madison that has performed for 15 years across America and has written more than 70 songs. Natty Nation was selected for the highly sought after Armed Forces Entertainment tour of the Middle East and Africa. They have received 19 Madison Area Music Awards, including overall Artist of the Year, Best World Artist for three years in a row, Album, Song, Hip-hop Song, Male Vocalist, Keyboardist, Guitarist and Bassist.

Box lunches will be available at Cafe Claudeen's, Bean and Barrel, and Pancho and Lefty's, all located on the Square. Special Olympics volunteers will be selling popcorn as a fundraiser. Bartels Pub provides the popcorn to the group free of charge.

Beverages will be available at a beer stand sponsored by the Green County Humane Society. Monroe Main Street will sell a variety of concessions. Homeless Coalition of Green County will be the featured nonprofit organization during the break.

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move to the Monroe Middle School located one block south of the Square.
