MONROE - The sixth annual Prom for Pennies event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Monroe Theatre Guild.

Prom for Pennies is sponsored by the Monroe High School Students of Service Club. The event provides area high school girls the opportunity to purchase a gently used prom or formal dress, along with new shoes and other accessories. There are currently more than 700 dresses in sizes 0-24 - more than double the selection of last year.

About 250 of these dresses are new. The total grew this week with a donation of more than 100 new prom dresses from Brandi's Bridal Galleria in New Glarus. Dress prices range from $5 to $40 as suggested donations.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Jacob's SWAG Foundation Inc. Jacob's SWAG was created to raise funds to help provide educational programs in the schools and community youth programs in the areas of bullying, suicide prevention/awareness, mental health and making good life choices.
