DARLINGTON - With the 2016 ATV season approaching, the Darlington police department has compiled the following list of dos and don'ts as a reminder of the rules associated with driving ATV/UTVs on Darlington city streets.
Do plan to get a $175 ticket if you knowingly violate these rules.
Do register your ATV and display a registration plate on its rear.
Do have legal/quiet exhaust.
Do use the streets to access the trail only.
Do have a valid driver's license.
Do obey the 10 mph speed limit.
Do operate in single file with the flow of traffic.
Do have proof of insurance.
Do use your tail/headlights at all times.
Do not drive on state highways (Galena Street, Main Street, Louisa Street).
Do not use your ATV to drive to work, go shopping, etc.
Do not use the streets if you're not a city resident.
Do not use the streets between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Do not use the streets when the ATV trail is closed.
