MONROE - Police have released security footage from the Associated Bank in Monroe depicting a robber who stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank April 13.

The 20-second video, which has been posted to the Monroe Police Department's Youtube channel, depicts the suspect entering the building and slowly approaching the teller before leaning on the counter and talking with her. The video is also posted on the Monroe Times' Facebook page at www.facebook.com/monroetimes.

According to police reports, the man implied that he had a weapon and demanded money from the teller. After obtaining the money, the suspect fled on foot.

Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley said the police will not disclose the amount of money stolen.

"The way I see it, if a person brags getting so much money from the bank, if it's the exact number stolen, we'll know who it is," Kelley said.

Kelley said the video might help people identify the suspect based on his movements. The perpetrator, who is seen wearing baggy black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, black sunglasses and black gloves, is depicted in the video walking with a loping, nonchalant gait.

Kelley said police have no further updates on the case and the investigation is ongoing.
