MONROE - Monroe police are alerting the community that a sex offender is moving into a home in the 1300 block of 17th Street after doing time in prison. Benjamin Hale, 31, will be living at 1317 17th St., after serving his sentence on a number of convictions. Hale, Monroe police said, "was convicted of possessing child pornography, taking sexual photos of and exposing himself to teen-aged female acquaintances, forgery, theft and battery by prisoner."

According to Wisconsin's online sex offender database, there are 41 registered sex offenders living in Monroe's 53566 zip code.

Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley said the information about Hale is being released for public safety reasons, but added that it's against the law to harass a sex offender.

Hale will be under a number of parole-related restrictions, including 24-hour electronic home monitoring, police said.
