Monticello Police

MONTICELLO — On Oct. 21: 

● A male and female yelling was reported at 12:24 a.m. in the 400 block of East Coates Avenue. Police monitored area. 

● A power outage was reported at 1:34 p.m. on South Madison Street and East Lake Avenue. A power pole with a blown fuse was located. Alliant Energy was contacted. 

● Officers responded at 5:12 p.m. within the village. Monticello Fire First Response and Green County EMS assisted. 

● Officers conducted traffic control at 6:12 p.m. on North Main Street and East Coates Avenue. 

● Matthew J. Brown, Monticello, was arrested on a charge of domestic disorderly conduct at 6:51 p.m. in the 400 block of Washington Street. He was transported to Green County Jail. Green County Sheriff’s Office assisted. 

● Officers responded to check welfare at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 22 in the 500 block of Sunset Avenue. 

On Oct. 25: 

● A semi speeding and almost hitting children was reported at 3:40 p.m. in the 400 block of East Coates Avenue. This remains under investigation. 

● A resident filled out a property watch form at 4:35 p.m. 

● Police responded for a residential alarm at 4:38 p.m. in the village. Everything was okay.  

● Police assisted with a paper service at 5:33 p.m., 5:35 p.m. and at 6:28 p.m.  

● A parking complaint was reported at 7:06 p.m. in the 100 block of Staedtler Avenue. Everything was okay. 

● An unoccupied parked vehicle with passenger door open was reported at 11:08 p.m. in the 400 block of North Monroe Street. Everything was okay. The door was secured. 

On Oct. 26: 

● Suspicious activity involving an unattended truck running for hours was reported at 7:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Park Avenue. Owner was contacted. 

● A parking complaint involving the 24-hour parking ordinance was reported at 10:07 a.m. in the 600 block of Sunset Avenue. Contact was made. The trailer was removed. 

● A property maintenance violation was reported at 11:54 a.m. in the 400 block of Greenview Avenue. A corrective letter was mailed. 

● Two large dogs at large were reported at 2:34 p.m. in the 100 block of East Highland Avenue. Owner was reminded about village ordinance. 

● A lost checkbook was reported at 4:31 p.m. 

● Two loose dogs were reported at 5:44 p.m. in the 400 block of North Monroe Street. Dogs were located and secured. 

On Oct. 27: 

● Officers located a business with lights on after hours at 12:02 a.m. Police conducted a security check and everything was okay. 

● Officers assisted the Ottumwa Police Department from Iowa with an investigation at 4:17 p.m. 

● Officers responded at 8:14 p.m. to the village. Monticello Fire First Response and Green County EMS assisted. 

● An open beer can was found inside the post office at 8:47 p.m. Officers conducted an interior check before locking. Everything was okay. This remains under investigation. 

On Oct. 28: 

● Officers assisted Green County Sheriff’s Office with an accident at 6:22 a.m. on County CC. 

● A driver who seemed lost was reported at 8:17 a.m. in the 100 block of North Main Street. Officers were unable to locate driver. 

● An unwanted person on property was reported at 8:23 a.m. in the 200 block of South Main Street. The person was removed. 

● A child abuse complaint with photos via Facebook was reported at 10:50 a.m. Investigation revealed incident occurred in New York. 

● Annoying phone calls were reported at 11:49 a.m. in the 400 block of Washington Street. This remains under investigation. 

● Vandalism to the Monticello Monument was reported at 2:49 p.m. at Lake Montesian. 

● Police received a call inquiring date and time for Halloween at 4:33 p.m. Information was given. 

● Police located a car parked against traffic at 7:09 p.m. in the 700 block of Johnson Street. A citation was issued. 

● Loud music was reported at 8:14 p.m. in the 300 block of South Garfield Street. Music was turned off upon arrival. 

On Oct. 29: 

● Suspicious activity was reported at 8:35 a.m. This remains under investigation. 

● Officers assisted a resident at 1:02 p.m. with registration question. 

● Police assisted a paper service at 3:43 p.m. and at 6:38 p.m. 

● Suspicious activity was reported at 9:44 p.m. This remains under investigation. 

Officers were requested to assist with a domestic abuse incident in Belleville at 2:27 a.m. Oct. 31. They were disregarded enroute. 

On Nov. 1: 

● A driving complaint was reported at 7 a.m. on Wis. 69 and Cold Springs Road. Vehicle was not located. 

● A parking complaint was reported at 9:04 a.m. in the 300 block of South Monroe Street. A citation was issued. 

● A cat in a tree was reported at 11:29 a.m. in the 100 block of East Lake Avenue. The officers got cat down. 

On Nov. 2: 

● Officers assisted Green County Sheriff’s Office with a suspicious vehicle at 7:05 a.m. in the N5000 block of Wis. 69. Everything was okay. 

● Officers responded at 7:16 a.m. to the village. Monticello Fire First Response and Green County EMS assisted.
