MONROE - After a successful first run in June, the Green County Fair Association is back this weekend with its second flea market of the year.
The "Pickers" Antique and Flea Market is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8. It's part of a new effort to raise funds for the county fair.
After expenses, "we cleared over $6,000," said organizer Susan Konopacki of the June market. "For a first time, we were just so happy. It's a very good start."
More than 2,100 people came through the gate at the June market, and there were more than 90 vendor spots filled, she said.
For the second market this weekend, "we're close to 100 spots."
New vendors for the September market include sellers of concrete yard planters, antique furniture and more "upcycled" wares. Nonprofit food vendors will also be on-hand to sell concessions.
Planning for next year's flea market is already underway. The 2014 dates are June 7 to 8 and Sept. 6 to 7. Vendors spots cost $30 to $50.
