MONROE - A pep rally will be held at 7:45 a.m. Friday in the Monroe High School gym for the school's varsity softball team. The Lady Cheesemakers will play Rice Lake in a Division 2 state semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday in Madison. The public is welcome to attend Friday's pep rally to wish the softball team good luck in its state appearance.
If Monroe wins Friday, it will play in Saturday's Division 2 championship game against the winner of Friday's other semifinal between Southern Door and New Berlin Eisenhower. The title game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.
If the Lady Cheesemakers are in the title game, there will be a welcome home celebration, tentatively scheduled for between 6 and 6:30 p.m., Saturday in the high school gym. The team will be met north of town by city fire trucks and escorted through town to the high school.
