BLANCHARDVILLE - The Pecatonica Area School District will host Child Development Day for parents of children who were 3 years old by Sept. 1. The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at the Pecatonica Elementary School gym, 701 School Road.

Community and area organizations will attend the event to share information about how they serve the needs of children and families.

Child Development Day will allow educators observe social, communication and motor skills as children play. Each child's hearing and vision will also be screened. Parents will need to complete the review of their child's development that was mailed and bring it to the educator who observes their child. The event will be the only screening for children before kindergarten registration.

Each child attending will received a gift bag and a free T-shirt.

Letters of invitation were sent out to families of 3-year-old children on the school's census. Families of 3-year-olds who did not receive a letter should contact the Pecatonica Elementary office at 608-523-4283 or 608-967-2372.
