Pec River flood watch continues

MONROE - A flood watch continues for the Pecatonica River near Martintown, but a flood watch for the Sugar River near Brodhead has been canceled.

According to the National Weather Service, the Pecatonica River was at 9.38 feet as of 7 a.m. today. Flood stage is 13.5 feet.

The river is expected to crest at about 14.6 feet around 6 a.m. Friday. At that height, floodwaters affect Martintown Road and West River Road. Upstream in the Browntown area, floodwaters affect County MM and West Indies Road.

The Sugar River was at 3.41 feet as of 7 a.m. today. Flood stage is 5 feet and the river was expected to crest at 6.5 feet Wednesday night. At that level, there is widespread flooding of lowland and agricultural land.

The National Weather Service forecasts occasional rain mixing with snow during the day before changing to all snow tonight.

More snow is forecast for Thursday and Friday.
