BROWNTOWN - An outdoor wood boiler exploded this morning, resulting in a fire that brought crews from at least three area fire departments to the scene.
The Browntown Fire Department was called at about 5:25 a.m. Wednesday to a rural Browntown home at 7542 County P, east of Wolfe Road, where an outdoor wood boiler exploded and burst into flames.
Initial indications are that the structure was not attached to the house or any other buildings, but is between two other structures, including a barn. The wind was blowing embers from the fire into a metal building that was not catching fire.
A tanker was requested from Monroe Fire Department at about 5:50 a.m. A tanker also was requested from the Winslow Fire Department at about 6:25 a.m.
The Monroe and Winslow crews were sent home at about 9 a.m.
