MONROE — A 30-year-old Monroe man has been hit with felony child sex charges for allegedly downloading images of child pornography online.
The arrest is the most recent in the region identified by a tip to law enforcement from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). NCMEC works with law enforcement around the country to coordinate tips and investigations into child pornography.
According to the criminal complaint, the center notified the Wisconsin Dept. of Justice, which in turn notified local police that a user in the Monroe area had downloaded child pornography. The center generated the tip from the company that operates the Discord technology platform.
As a result, Draven Cheyenne Scott Lewis is charged with a single count of possession of child pornography, a Class D felony in Wisconsin. The original complaint was filed in Green County Circuit Court on July 12, according to court records.
“…The cybertip was a Discord Cybertip reporting photo of a prepubescent or early pubescent female posed nude with focus on genitalia,” said the criminal complaint against Lewis.
In addition to a least one image of child pornography, the suspect also had possession of other images.
“I observed there were 26 posts to this server by (suspect internet user) which is Draven Lewis’ Discord User ID,” the complaint said. “The dates the items were sent were from December 15, 2023, through December 26, 2023.”
His device also held several AI generated child sex images.
“It shall be known the AI generated child sexual abuse material was not child sexual abuse material I would refer to as Anime material,” an investigator said in the complaint. “I describe Anime material as having really large eyes unnatural looking hair and body parts to not be size appropriate.”
Lewis has been free on a $2,000 bond with strict conditions. His next appearance in court was set for Dec. 17, a Tuesday, just after the newspaper’s deadline. That 8 a.m. hearing in Circuit Court was set up as a pre-trial conference.
A search of state court records showed no prior criminal history for Lewis in Wisconsin. If convicted, the prosecution said, it would like to seek the maximum prison term available for such an offense, which is three years in prison.
