MONROE - A Monroe man charged with sexually assaulting a child had one charge moved to a separate case Tuesday.

Micki Fredrick Nafzger, 23, faces three Class B felony counts of first degree sexual assault of a child. One of the charges, however, was dismissed and moved to a separate case after it was determined to be not sufficiently connected to the other charges.

Nafzger was charged in 2016 with sexually assaulting three underage girls in two incidents in 2007 and 2008.

In the first incident, Nafzger had sex with two preteen girls at a residence in the Town of Brooklyn between July 30 and Aug. 11, 2007. Nafzger was 13 years old at the time of the assault.

A second incident occurred between June 1 and July 30 of 2008 in the Town of Sylvester.

According to a motion filed by Nafzger's attorney Suzanne Edwards, the two incidents were not sufficiently connected for the charges to be linked.

Green County Circuit Judge Thomas Vale dismissed the charge related to the 2008 offense but reopened it in its own case.

Nafzger has a jury trial scheduled on Nov. 27 for his charges related to the 2007 offense. A preliminary hearing for his 2008 charge will take place Sept. 15.

Nafzger faces a maximum possible sentence of 120 years in prison for all three charges.
