MONROE - A Monroe police officer was ticketed for parking in a handicapped stall at a local convenience store Tuesday.
The Monroe Police Department completed an investigation into a complaint that an officer had parked a marked squad car in a handicapped parking stall at the store Tuesday, according to a police department news release.
The squad car parked in the handicapped stall was photographed by a citizen, and the photo was posted on Facebook. Based on the Facebook posting, the police department and city hall also received phone complaints.
The police department's investigation found the officer was in the store following up on a call, but parking in the handicapped stall is contrary to policy.
The officer was reprimanded and is also being issued a parking ticket for parking in a handicapped stall, "the same parking ticket that would have been issued to anyone else that had parked in a handicapped stall without handicapped status," the release said.
