MONROE — Each year, the Monday before Thanksgiving is recognized as Public Health Thank You Day. For 17 years Research!America, a non-profit organization working to support health research in the United States, has organized this effort to say “thank you” to the Public Health workforce.

Public health personnel work in many places, including community clinics, health departments, research labs and non-profit organizations. The public health workforce helps protect communities from viruses like COVID-19 and the flu, ensures there is clean water and safe homes, and provides support to families through education and supplemental nutrition programs. Public health staff also work with local partners to create changes that will positively impact their community’s health.

Green County Public Health would like to thank and recognize the countless organizations and community members who are making Green County a healthier place to live, work and play.

“Not only do we have a talented and dedicated team of public health professionals here at Green County Public Health, we have many organizations and individuals across Green County who are working towards improving our county’s health”. Said RoAnn Warden, Health Officer at Green County Public Health. “Protecting public health is a community effort, we can’t do it alone. We are fortunate to have a community full of people who partner with and support our department.”

The ability of our nation to live healthier, longer, and happier lives rests on the public’s collective commitment to supporting public health initiatives and those who carry them out. Everyone knows someone who is part of the public health workforce, reach out today to say “thank you.”
