MONROE - Jean C. Anderson, 51, Argyle, pleaded not guilty Friday in Green County Circuit Court to charges related to manufacturing and delivery of marijuana.

Anderson is being charged as a party to a crime.

Anderson agreed to be arraigned and entered her pleas following a preliminary hearing, during which a State Line Area Narcotics Team officer was questioned by attorneys about his investigation and subsequent Dec. 7 search of the property where Anderson is alleged to have been living at the time.

The property is owned by Blake Schneider, who faces federal drug charges in the U.S. District Court Western District of Wisconsin. (See related story, Page 1A.)

Judge Thomas J. Vale said he found enough evidence presented at the hearing to find probable cause for the case against Anderson to be bound over for trial.

Vale noted Anderson's presence in the home during the execution of the search warrant; a woman's belongings in one of the upstairs bedrooms; and a vehicle registered to her at the address. The vehicle was parked in a large shed, a part of which was being used to grow marijuana plants.

Vale also said there was "plenty of evidence" of a marijuana-growing operation at the scene.

Anderson agreed through her attorney to be arraigned immediately, and entered her pleas of not guilty.

She is charged with manufacture/deliver marijuana, a class E felony; possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a class F felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor - all as a party to a crime.

She faces more than 17 years in prison and more than $75,000 in fines, if convicted.
