MONROE - The 52 members of the Northside Elementary School Fifth Grade Chorus are busy preparing to present "Santa's Holiday Playlist" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in their gym. Admission to the concert is free.
The musical play involves an attempt to convince Santa (Nate Smith) that he needs to upgrade his resources and choices in Christmas music and get an iPod. The elves (Autumn Anthony, Meghan Finley, Michelle Gierhart, Halee Hartwig, Skylar Lassen, Mylani Peach, Chloe Schroeder and Dakota Thompson) think he should try Motown style. The reindeer (Chris Smiley, Kaylea Bear, Alysha Clark, Ciara Kaderly, Erin Keller, Maddie Kuckuk, Dessaray Leopold, Matt Maveus, Silas Setterstrom, Elizabeth Skatrud and Taylor Voegeli) think he should try country music. Crystal Snowflake (Brenna Doherty) and her dancing partners (Jordan Hirsbrunner with Parker Ingold, and Allyce Fahrney with Josh Smith) suggest Broadway music is the only music that's truly great. Then along come the Toy Soldiers (Captain Ben Dombkowski, Jack Sabatke, Cole Murray, Cameron Fiez, Cade Hellenbrand, Ryne Miller, Kendall Paulson, Carter Sawdey and Alex Tordoff), who are sure that rock 'n roll is the way to go! Mrs. Claus (Baylie Engels) gets into the act and even gives Santa his very own iPod as an early Christmas gift.
The second part of the program includes "Something Told the Wild Geese," "Children, Go Where I Send Thee," "It's Snow Wonder," "I Believe in Santa Claus," "O Christmas Tree" and "The World Says Merry Christmas."
