MONROE - No one has stepped forward to take out nomination papers for the open seats on the Green County Board of Supervisors.
Two districts, 19 and 30, remain open in the April election. District 19 is in Albany and District 30 is in New Glarus.
Allen Benzschawel, who served as a supervisor from District 19 since April 2004, told the Green County Clerk's office last week he wouldn't seek another term. He is moving out of his district.
Anyone interested in running for the position had until 5 p.m. Friday to return nomination papers to the clerk's office.
No one returned nomination papers to the office.
District 30, which was represented by Craig Foreback until he resigned in October because he moved out of the district, is also open.
Anyone interested in representing those districts can run as a write-in candidate. The write-in candidate who receives the most votes in those districts in the April 6 election can serve on the board. Green County Clerk Mike Doyle will contact the person who receives the most votes to see if that person is interested in serving on the board. The person with the most write-in votes doesn't have to serve.
One race in the April election is contested. Incumbent Steve Stettler will face challenger Robert Gadow in the 18th District. That district is in Decatur township.
None of the other board members in Green County have challengers in the spring election.
