The Lafayette County Dairy Promotion announced April 28 that there would be no dairy breakfast event for 2022.
In a statement made on their Facebook page, the group wrote, “It is with considerable regret that the decision was made to not have a dairy breakfast event for this year. This was due largely in part to the extensive road construction and road closures taking place throughout the country over the summer and the impact it would likely have on attendance. Our amazing farm host families work hard to put on this event and therefore we want them to have the opportunity to host as many attendees as possible.”:
Construction has begun on Galena Street in Darlington with completion estimated in October. Wis. 78 road construction between Argyle and Blanchardville will be flagged until mid-July. Wis. 23 between Darlington and Mineral Point to rework the Rock Branch Creek Bridge and is due to be completed in early October. The bridge on County D near South Wayne will be closed and redone from May to November. Wis. 126 by Belmont and Wis. 11/80 from Hazel Green to Cuba City are both estimated to take 6-8 weeks and being in late summer time. Wis. 11 from Shullsburg to Gratiot is estimated to take 2-3 months with some flagging.
The group also posted a list of other events happening during the summer that also promote dairy products such as the Canoe Fest on June 12, Wiota 4th of July Parade on July 3, Shullsburg’s 4th of July Parade on July 4, Lafayatte County Fair July 13-17, Gratiot Labor Day Parade Sept. 9, and the Belmont School and Community Fair Parade Sept. 17.
