MONROE - An initial court appearance is indefinitely postponed for a Monroe man tentatively charged with causing the death of a 10-year-old boy by driving drunk and crashing into the boy's family minivan near Albany.

Trevor J. McGuire, 21, was re-hospitalized after his arrest earlier this week.

"We do not expect to file any criminal charges or schedule an initial appearance until such time as Mr. McGuire's medical condition is stabilized and he is returned to the Green County Jail," Green County District Attorney Gary Luhman said Thursday afternoon, Oct. 10.

McGuire faces tentative charges of reckless driving and homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

The pickup vs. minivan crash that killed 10-year-old Michael T. Iverson, a fifth-grade student from Stoughton, occurred on Wisconsin 59 at about 5:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7.

Police say McGuire and a passenger in the pickup had been drinking prior to the crash. McGuire was reportedly seen speeding and passing other vehicles before police say he lost control on a curve, went into the opposite lane and crashed into a minivan driven by Michael's father Matthew I. Iverson, 35, Stoughton.

Two of Michael's siblings in the minivan had minor injuries. Their father sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown by Medflight helicopter to a Madison hospital, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department. He was later released, a hospital spokesperson said.

McGuire's injuries were described by the sheriff's department earlier this week as non-life threatening. His passenger, Michael G. Ladwig, 24, Monroe, had minor injuries.
