NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus Police Department has discontinued releasing a weekly blotter to media, and the chief of police has “no plans on resuming sending them out.”
The weekly release, a roundup of incidents officers handled during the previous seven days, was typically emailed to area news outlets Sundays or Mondays.
The last one was sent Jan. 21.
“Quite honestly they have become rather time-consuming for our agency,” Chief of Police Burt Boldebuck wrote the Times in an email.
An abbreviated version in a binder is available for the public to view at the police station weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., depending on availability of staff, he said.
“Actually, we may even (be) discontinuing the abbreviated copy here altogether and just doing a special release as needed for larger or important cases only when they occur,” Boldebuck noted.
Since the release of the weekly blotter stopped in January, the department has sent out no special releases.
