MONROE - A New Glarus man was sentenced to one year in jail Monday for his third and fourth drunk driving offenses.

Michael John Zuber, 58, pleaded no contest Monday to a Class H felony count of fourth-offense driving while intoxicated and a misdemeanor count of third-offense driving while intoxicated.

Zuber's charges stem from a pair of incidents in 2016 when he was found intoxicated in his vehicle around New Glarus.

On Oct. 27, an intoxicated man was reported making a disturbance at a business in the 600 block of Wisconsin 69 in New Glarus. Police responded to find Zuber in his vehicle, noticeably intoxicated with open containers of alcohol.

After that incident, Zuber was prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol by a $1,500 signature bond. Despite that, Zuber was stopped on Dec. 15 on Railroad Street in New Glarus and was found to have a .184 blood alcohol content.

The two incidents constituted Zuber's third and fourth drunk driving offenses, respectively.

Zuber's sentence consists of one year of jail time with an additional 120 days. After his release, his license will be revoked for 28 months and he will be required to use an ignition interlock device for an additional 28 months after his license is reinstated.

Various charges of bail jumping and driving with a prohibited alcohol content were dismissed.
