National Historic Cheesemaking Center: Evergreen Cheese Factory

The Evergreen Cheese Factory, located east of Clarno on County P, operated from the early to mid-1900s producing wheel Swiss cheese. Cheesemakers during those years included Fred Glauser, Ernest Buri, Paul Brog, Fred Brawand, Franz Brand Sr., Newell B. Smith and Fritz Schild. Pictured by the front door of the residence of the factory are Franz Brand Sr., with Catharina and children Edith (Brand) Leuenberger, Franz Jr. and Nathan Brand. Edith is a longtime volunteer of the National Historic Cheesemaking Center.
