The Carl Marty & Company, located at the north end of 17th Avenue, Monroe, was originally owned and operated by the Bordon Company. It was sold to Kraft-Phenix and purchased by Carl Marty in 1925, who then moved in Aug. 1, 1932. Carl Marty & Co., trade sloganed "The Cheese House of America," had the largest manufacturing and storage plant in a single property in Monroe. Their trade brand "Dutch Maid" was used in the manufacture of cream, Swiss, limburger, brick and American cheeses and creamery butter. Marty then sold back to the original owner, Bordon Company, and later housed by the Swiss Colony. The building was razed in 1966.
