MONROE - The 2010 Green County Fair will kick-off Wednesday, July 21 and conclude on Sunday, July 25. Grandstand entertainment remains a highlight of the fair - with the aim of the Fair Board to provide something to please everyone. The fair is offering a mix of free and paid shows.

Entertainment begins 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, with a free grandstand, featuring the Three Hills Rodeo. The professional, talented and hard-working staff strives to provide a quality, audience-pleasing rodeo performance.

Thursday, July 22, features the "roar of the Big Tractors" at 6 p.m. as the Badger State Tractor Pullers race across the pulling track to provide yet another thrilling free grandstand show. Among the pullers will be many local faces vying for applause.

Friday, July 23, welcomes two free grandstand performances. The Dude Creek Horse Pullers, featuring a number of well-known pulling teams, will start off the activities at 4 p.m.

The second Friday night show will feature county performer Maggie Mae. Maggie Mae, the co-owner of Maggie Mae's Café in Oxford, became interested in 2002 in learning to play the guitar. To her amazement, she also found that she could sing. Now she does a number of personal appearances and often performs at the RFD Theater in Branson, Missouri, where she is also featured on the RFD television show. When back in Oxford, she provides a song with their meal for her café patrons. She will do a one-hour show, give the audience a half-hour break to stretch their legs and hit the food stands, and then return for a completely different second one-hour show. The grandstand will not be cleared between shows.

Cody Colllins, Dean Sams, Michael Britt, and Keech Rainwater make up the group known as "Lonestar." "Lonestar" will be the fair's featured entertainment 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 24. This group has sold millions of records and has had 10 Number 1 hits. Their modern-day classics include "I'm Already There", "My Front Porch Looking In" and "Mr. Mom" to name a few.

Entertainment concludes on Sunday, July 25, with three big events. First, at 10:30 a.m., will be harness racing, a historic part of the Green County Fair, almost from its beginnings. At 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. will be the two demolition derbies. According to the 2010 survey results, the demolition derby ranks as the most memorable fair activity for a large number of people.

The "Lonestar" concert and the demolition derbies are paid fair entertainment. For a small online fee, tickets can be purchased online now; visit www.greencountyfair. net and click on the ticket sales link. Tickets will also be on sale at the main ticket booth on the fairgrounds:
