DARLINGTON - A Blanchardville woman died after crashing her motorcycle Tuesday afternoon north of Yellowstone Lake State Park, according to a Lafayette County Sheriff's Office release.
Jerica Heather Peterson, 38, was taken by Rural Medical Ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County, where she was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries she sustained in the accident.
It's the first motor vehicle fatality of 2018 on Lafayette County roadways, according to Sheriff Reg Gill. A 911 call reporting the crash came in at 3:38 p.m. Peterson was westbound in the 21000 block of English Hollow Road in the Town of Fayette when she lost control on a curve.
The 1974 Harley Davidson she was driving left the road, entered the south ditch line and struck a barbed-wire fence and power pole.
Darlington firefighters, members of Peterson's family and other private citizens assisted deputies at the crash scene. A MedFlight helicopter from the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison was also requeste
