During the week of June 13, Dane County Contracting continued with the installation of 10-inch and 8-inch sanitary sewer main between 18th and 20th Avenue. They installed 210 feet of 10-inch sewer main, 426 feet of 8-inch sewer main, and four new sanitary sewer manholes ranging in depth from 5 feet to 6 feet. New water and sewer services were reconnected to the new mains and replaced to the property line between 18th and 20th Avenue. Dane County Contracting is now complete with the sewer and water project with the exception of the final height adjustment of the sewer manholes prior to paving.
Rock Road Companies continued with the installation of 15-inch, and 12-inch concrete storm sewer pipe on 9th Street from 17th Avenue to 19th Avenue and at the intersection of 12th Avenue and 9th Street. After the soil and rock excavation they placed 6 inches of breaker run, and an initial layer of the 13 inches of gravel base course. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, completed installation of the piles for the foundation of the new bridge and poured the south concrete bridge abutment footing for the new bridge foundation. Voegeli Landscaping continued with construction of the south retaining wall from 8th Avenue to East of the bridge. They have completed 230 feet of retaining wall varying from 4 feet in height to 14 feet in height on the South side. Voegeli also started on the construction of the concrete leveling pads for the retaining wall on the north side around the bridge.
Next week, Rock Road Companies will continue with storm sewer lateral installation between 13th Avenue and 16th Avenue. They will also continue with concrete pavement removal from 14th Avenue to 20th Avenue. After the concrete is removed the grading crew will go back and continue with the placement of the street base from 13th Avenue to 18th Avenue. The bridge contractor, Edward Kraemer & Sons, will continue with construction of the concrete bridge abutments. Voegeli Landscaping will continue working on retaining wall installation on the north side of 8th Street adjacent to the new bridge location.
All intersections will remain open for cross traffic the majority of the time, except during the installation of utilities through the intersection. The intersections will be completely barricaded when this is happening. Otherwise the barricades will be offset to allow for cross traffic.
